Conservation & Historic Structures
Founded in 1962, Hockley & Dawson has over sixty years’ experience specialising in the sensitive repair and conservation of historic buildings, prestigious houses and important structures.
We are able to combine an understanding of the methods of construction and craftsmanship with traditional or modern techniques and materials, allowing a sympathetic approach to detailing and repair, with the emphasis on minimum intervention.
Commercial Structures
Hockley & Dawson provide structural engineering and conservation services for a wide variety of commercial projects, including offices, retail spaces, schools, care homes, and multi-storey apartment buildings.
In the commercial sector we are particularly mindful of tight schedules and budget constraints, collaborating with design teams to deliver structural solutions that are both sensitive (especially in historic or conservation settings) and efficient for modern commercial use.
Domestic Structures
Hockley & Dawson work extensively on domestic and residential structural work. We’ve handled everything from large, multi-million-pound detached homes to smaller single-storey extensions. We design in a diverse range of building materials — steel, timber, concrete, masonry — adapting to project size. We work with homeowners, architects, surveyors, developers, and contractors, offering structural engineering services for projects of all scales.
Industrial Structures
Hockley & Dawson frequently carry out repairs to historic and sensative steel structures including the Airship Hanger at Farnborough. Recent new structures in a historic environment include the new Ravens Cages at the Tower of London.
